“The application process was fast and smooth. The financial support, together with the guidance from Skellefteå Science City throughout the process, has enabled us to take our product a step further in a shorter time than planned,” says Joel Lindgren, Chief Scientific Officer at Mindforce Game Lab AB.
Mindforce Game Lab develops mobile games featuring characters that act as companions on the journey toward better health. The company works across disciplines to create digital products designed to support individuals in need. Their first product has been developed to support people undergoing treatment for depression or bipolar disorder.
“We require specialist expertise in areas ranging from game design and development to psychology, regulatory processes and clinical evaluation of medical devices. The innovation vouchers have provided financial support that allows us to engage external experts,” says Joel Lindgren.
Mindforce Game Lab received vouchers for Business Development and Infrastructure. The funding was used to hire specialist consultants to conduct a market analysis for one of the company’s products and to prepare for its evaluation in a clinical trial.
“The market analysis included a thorough external scientific review of the product, resulting in valuable insights and a report that can be used to present both the company and the product to external stakeholders.”
The infrastructure voucher was primarily used to support preparations for the clinical study initiated for the product Fig: A Playtient Journey.
“The vouchers gave us the opportunity to bring in experts in areas outside our core operations. It is an opportunity I highly recommend to other companies,” says Joel Lindgren.
The innovation vouchers were initiated by Vinnova and finance external expertise in areas such as intellectual property, business development and infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening small and medium sized enterprises.
