Financing
Financing Opportunities
We help you find the right solutions to support your company’s growth by identifying financing options that suit your business needs.
This may include funding through external investors, bank loans, or grants at the regional, national, or EU level.
Testbeds
Testbeds are environments where companies, researchers, and innovators can develop, test, and demonstrate new products, services, and technologies under controlled yet realistic conditions. They act as catalysts for innovation and collaboration, reducing the time from idea to market.
Skellefteå Science City operates several strategic testbeds that promote development within future technology fields. Some examples include:
-
The Motion Capture Testbed – an advanced infrastructure for motion analysis, particularly relevant for industries such as game development, film, medicine, and sports. Here, companies and creators can experiment with technologies for capturing, analyzing, and applying human movements in real time.
-
Skellefteå Droneport – a testbed within the Arctic Aviation Hub that focuses on enabling the development and testing of aviation technology in an Arctic climate. It offers unique conditions for testing electric aviation, drones, autonomous systems, and other future-oriented solutions within the aviation sector. The area is especially suitable for winter testing and innovation projects related to sustainable and unmanned aviation.
By providing these test environments, Skellefteå Science City strengthens the region’s attractiveness for technological development and offers companies and stakeholders the opportunity to stay at the forefront of their fields.
System Demonstrator
System Demonstrators and Testbeds
System demonstrators are advanced testing and innovation platforms. They provide the opportunity to test and validate new solutions in real, yet controlled, environments before they reach the market. A system demonstrator can be either a physical location or a process and includes everything from technology and business models to policy barriers and user behavior — all viewed from a systems perspective.
The advantage of system demonstrators is that they accelerate the pace of innovation and improve the chances of successful commercialization. In Skellefteå, we aim to use the entire city as a system demonstrator for sustainable solutions. At Skellefteå Science City, we are involved in several initiatives, such as Arctic Aviation Hub, where you can test electric aircraft in real-world conditions.
