Motion capture
09 Apr 2026A year ago, around 30 participants from across Sweden gathered in Skellefteå to learn about motion capture. Dancers, actors, film producers, directors, technicians, and animators explored during the workshop how creative expression and advanced technology come together in mocap productions.
One of the participants was actor Alva Semb. A year later, she has now stepped into a role as an actor in a professional motion capture production for a major company.
“The workshop gave me both practical skills and a context to grow in. The connections and collaborations that started there have now led all the way to me having the opportunity to apply my skills in a real production,” says Alva Semb.
The workshop was designed to give participants a hands-on, real-world understanding of how motion capture productions work. Over two days, they worked through the entire process – from script learning, timing, and on-camera interaction to collaborating with technicians and directors in a professional production environment.
Alva’s progression into a professional production highlights the impact that practical learning environments and meeting places can have on both skills development and career paths. The fact that the Intersective Game project can offer more people hands-on experience in motion capture is truly unique.
“This workshop is an example of how targeted skills initiatives can create real opportunities, both for individuals and for the industry as a whole. When participants get the chance to try, build networks, and demonstrate their abilities, new pathways open up,” says Pernilla Lindmark, Project Manager for Intersective Game.
Intersective Game is now offering another motion capture workshop for actors, producers, technicians, and film artists – this time more advanced and further developed.
